| | Memories of Highland House |
| Steve King asks:
Hi, I worked at Highland House Salford/Manchester in 1972 as a royal mail office boy, my job was to go into the telephone offices and collect the mail to take and sort in the the postroom.
I also know that BT was still there up to at least 1990.
Any web search will now tell you that you that Highland house was an Inland revenue Building, there is no mention of BT.
It looks as if Wiki and others has erased BT from the History.
I wonder if anyone remembers if the Inland revenue had a connection with the building.
Here is a link to my recent photo of the building,

Thanks, Steve king.
I remember working in Highland House in the late '70s early '80s as a Private Wires engineer. The upper floors did indeed belong to BT or Post Office Telephones as it was in the day.
It was Manchester North's head quarters, there was a separate entrance at the front.

| | Canal Boat Trip |
| Hello everyone.
For few years John Essex has organised a canal boat trip. This year we were planning to do the Llangollen Canal on 23rd September for a week.
Time has meant that over the years our numbers has dwindled. I missed one when I was caring for my wife Sandra.
This year the numbers have reduced to make it impracticable. Before we call it off we wondered if anyone wants to join us. If so please let me know at lolw@btinternet.com.
It's good company, an enjoyable way to see the country.
Regards
Lol Williamson |
