Harry Bannister emailed us with the sad news of Alan's death.
I found out a week ago that my old pal Alan McDermott Mac has passed away after being diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago.
We both came out of our time in Pioneer in 1966 but Mac transferred to Turret in the late sixties and subsequently left the GPO, as was, in 1979 to work for various telecomms companies in the Middle East and Asia developing their training programmes.
Alan ended up living near Scunthorpe working for Ericsson’s Telecommunications, I don’t see a massive demand from colleagues to attend his funeral, but should anybody wish to send their condolences or attend the funeral then get in touch with Graham Whiteside and he’ll forward your requests to me and I’ll get back to you.

Information update:
There will be a delay to the funeral due to the requirement of a postmortem.
We will update the notice on the website and send out further details when they are available. It could be a few weeks before we have a date for Alan's funeral.
