I had the pleasure of working on construction when the ' new Macclesfield ' exchange was being constructed circa 1969-71 Syd was in charge of the MDF. Of all the guys I worked with he was the one who lifted moral to heights that were never surpassed.
In the years that passed he was one of the all time greats of BThe had the honour of actually meeting ' Mohamad Ali !!! and would always say '' this is the hand that shook the hand of Mohamad Ali ' … time remembered.

I remember him on the MDF at Macc Exchange when John Williams the BT North Manager visited us. Syd congratulated him on his great Guitar Album as he was shaking his hand.
