candles.jpg Farewell Ron Glenn
Paul Banks contacted us with the sad news of Ron's death after receiving an email from Dave Timperley.

Paul wrote:

Absolutely staggering to hear about Ron, he always seemed so young and active. So sad but thanks for the news. I'll forward this to Mike Ku to put on the BTMRstaff website as they have a couple of pictures of Ron from the last reunion.

Regards Paul and June

Post by Sylvia, Ron's daughter:

My dad, Ron, sadly died on 23rd April after a short 10 days in hospital. He had had a spontaneous spleen rupture and then they discovered Leukaemia, which sadly rapidly progressed.

Funeral arrangements:

So sad.I first met Ron when I was a technician at Stone. Ron was an Instructor. Years later, I became his boss. Always a kind and helpful guy.

My strongest memories Ron are as follows. In the eighties, we were both members of the POEU, and out on strike. I said to Ron, how did you decide that striking was the right thing to do? He simply pointed upwards. I said ; ''what! Dick Lamb'' Ron replied ''no, God''. Years later I was Ron's manager, and he had decided to take early release. I asked him how he came to that decision, and again he pointed skywards. So I said ''God'', and he replied ''no, Colin Barnes''.

I'm told it will be streamed on the churches Facebook at 2 2.15pm and probably not on You Tube.

Lovely to see the messages on here at such a sad time.

I am sorry to hear about Ron passing , I first met him in Guardian almost 50 years ago , great guy , plus when he started doing Datel testing in its early days. I used to have a chat with him when he was an instructor at Stone YarnField college if I was on a course like Rates. I remember seeing him on the TV several years ago , about some energy efficiency trial , it was either on Granada Reports or BBC northwest news , think it was after he retired and possibly from a bungalow near Chester ? Still recognizable after all these years 😁😁 RIP Ron 👍
