| | Farewell Peter Hammond |
| Jeff Horsfall forwarded us the email sent via Paul McNicholl and Allan Dawson regarding the sad news of Peter's death.
Kathy, Petes wife wrote:
I'm not sure if you are aware, but my gorgeous Pete passed away on Wednesday 7 Dec 2022 morning. It was completely unexpected and a terrible shock for Emma-Kate, Joe and me.
Could you please pass on the news to this group and anyone else who might know him.
Not organised the funeral yet as Pete has to have a post mortem. At least 10 days. Most likely early Jan. RIP my lovely caring little man with an ENORMOUS heart.
Jeff Horsfall added:
Peter worked in various roles within BT around the Altrincham Sale area mainly customer facing, ie Subs App and Line Maintenance and RSC staffing.
I worked with him, from 1987, in the Wilmslow Computer Centre installing and maintaining ARSCC ‘E’ and Northern Telecom Remote Line testing, for the RSC’s in the Manchester area. He played a major part in setting up the Customer Service centre in Church Street and the MBMC in Dial House.
When the Wilmslow centre was closed down Peter moved to Lancaster House, in Liverpool, where he was the Field Support for the Vanderhoff Remote Line Testing system. He then moved to the Diagnostic Test centre at the former Ashton RSC before moving back to his home ground at Altrincham, in the Diagnostic Test centre. He remained there until his retirement when he then took a part time role, as a guide, at the Woodford Avro museum.
To say I am shocked is an understatement, I was completely floored when I received the message on Saturday.
Pete's funeral details:
Thursday 12th January at 12-45 to 13:30
Altrincham Crematorium
Whitehouse Lane
Dunham Massey
Altrincham
Cheshire
WA14 5RH
Then onto the Rope and Anchor - for nibbles

Apparently he is going to dressed in his Combat trousers, Vulcan T shirt and Avro Sweatshirt! It’s how he would want it. | |
